Bethlehem University Hosting Visiting Groups
On Monday, 27 October, Representatives of the German Association of the Holy Land visited Bethlehem University, and met with Brother Vincent Malham, President- Vice Chancellor; and Brother Jack Curran, Vice President for Development. Mr. Heinz Thiel, General Secretary of the German Association of the Holy Land, and Arvid Weilnlich, Regional Representative, expressed solidarity and continued support of Bethlehem University, and they made a contribution to the Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism and the Religious Studies Program. They expressed hope that pilgrim tour groups will start coming from Germany to visit the Holy Land once again. |

On Tuesday, 28 November, Bethlehem University hosted Father Thomas Bieger and Father Andreas Waldrogen of the Swiss Holy Land Association (SHLV). It was a visit to express solidarity and continued support. Brother Jack Curran, Vice President for Development, commented on the visit: "we're grateful for the ongoing support from SHLV for student scholarships and the Pilgrim Tour Guide Program." |

Bethlehem University also hosted Prof. Joseph Freise, from the Social Work Department in the Catholic University of Applied Sciences, Cologne, Germany. The aim of the visit was to discuss cooperation in the field of scholarships for Social Work students in Bethlehem University, joint research between academic staff in Cologne University and the Bethlehem University's Social Sciences Department, an exchange visit of German students in May 2004, and starting a new cooperation program with the Religious Studies Department. Prof. Freise met with Brother Fregus McArdle, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Brother Jack Curran, Vice President for Development; Dr. Norma Masrieh-Hazboun, Chairperson of the Social Sciences Department; Father Jamal Khader, Chairperson of the Religious Studies Department; and Dr. Jeanne Kattan, Dean of the Faculty of Arts. |
