Visit of Equestrian Order from the Lieutenancy of Scotland
On Friday, 28 November, Bethlehem University hosted a pilgrim group of 21 members of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher, Lieutenancy of Scotland. The group, recommended to Bethlehem by Professor Bart McGettrick and led by Lieutenant John Maguire and Secretary Brian Mallon, enjoyed a lunch in the Institute of Hotel Management dining room, visited the University Chapel of the Holy Infant, and engaged some of our faculty and staff in dialogue about daily challenges in the Holy Land. Brother Jack Curran, Vice President for Development, spoke about the mission of the De La Salle Christian Brothers at Bethlehem University and the pivotal role of the University in providing education and hope to young and needy Palestinians. Mr. George Sahhar, Public Relations/ Development Officer, spoke about the challenges and successes of Bethlehem University and the hardship and need now prevalent in Palestinian society, highlighting the role of Bethlehem University as place where the young can find hope and inspiration. Dr. Jacqueline Sfeir, Dean of the Faculty of Education, spoke about social trends and the efforts exerted by the Faculty to help society with various out-reach educational programs meeting the educational needs of people in Bethlehem, the refugee camps and rural vicinity.
