Brother Daniel Casey Visits Bethlehem University

During the week of Monday, 1 December 2003 , Bethlehem University hosted Brother Daniel Casey, FSC, Provincial of the Long Island – New England Province of Christian Brothers in the United States .

Brother Daniel visited the Brothers' Community and the University to express solidarity and support on behalf of the Provincials Superior of the Brothers in the North American Region. In a note distributed to the Bethlehem University community announcing this visit, Brother Vincent Malham, President-Vice Chancellor, stated: "We are pleased he is here and hope his time with us will be informative, enjoyable, and encouraging."

Brother Daniel visited the various facilities on the Bethlehem University campus and met students, faculty, staff, and the Christian Brothers Community. Lunch was held in the Institute of Hotel Management in his honor, attended by members of the Executive Council. He also visited the City of Bethlehem and went to the Old City of Jerusalem as well as the Dead Sea , with Brother Jack Curran, FSC, Vice President for Development.

Towards the end of his visit, Brother Daniel Casey expressed his impressions by saying: "I am in admiration of the commitment of the Brothers, the faculty and the students to the mission of Bethlehem University . Despite very difficult circumstances, teaching and learning happen daily. Daily I witnessed courage and hope in the faces of the young men and women at the University. I pray that peace will one day again be a daily reality in Bethlehem ."
