Bethlehem University Hosts Group from the U.S.

On Friday, November 7, 2003, Bethlehem University hosted a group of 28 pilgrims from Arizona, USA, led by Father Edmond Garrett, former parish priest. The group was interested in knowing about the daily realities and the mission of Bethlehem University in the Holy Land.

The group saw a brief documentary about the challenges Christian Brothers and the University faced during last year's invasion of Bethlehem, as well as a multimedia presentation about Bethlehem University.

The visitors met with students, who spoke of their daily suffering in trying to reach the University despite the military siege. The students urged the visiting group to speak of their visit to churches and other institutions abroad, and to help spread the news about their hopes for peace in the Holy Land.

Brother Jack Curran, Vice President for Development, and Mr. George Sahhar, Public Relations / Development Office, welcomed the group and spoke of the courage and determination of all involved that has kept the university running despite the seemingly insurmountable odds, and they described the resolve witnessed here as "unique."
