September
9th, 2003. Mr. Jean-Marc Nesme, Mayor of Paray
Le Monial, and Member of Parliament, France, visited
Bethlehem University, along with Mr. Regis Koetschet,
Consul General of France in Jerusalem.
Mr. Nesme visited Bethlehem University
as part of his tour in the various institutions in the
City of Bethlehem. The aim of the visit is to explore
the possibilities of cultural cooperation and exchange.
Mr. Nesme and Mr. Koetschet visited the
Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism. Brother Vincent
Malham, President-Vice Chancellor, came over to Hotel
Management, and spoke with the guests about Bethlehem
University and the possibilities that may exist for
cooperation. Discussions with Brother Vincent took place
in a friendly atmosphere over a cup of coffee.
The guests visited the new kitchen in
the Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism, donated
through the Consulate General of France in Jerusalem.
Most of the students they met there spoke to them in
excellent French, which they learnt in Bethlehem University.
Some of those students have just returned from Morzin,
in Southern France, where they spent two months of training
and placement in distinguished hotels.
Earlier, Mr. Nesme and Mr. Koetschet
met with Brother Jack Curran, Vice President for Development,
and George Sahhar, Public Relations / Development Officer.
The guests were briefed about Bethlehem University,
the challenges it is facing, and its mission in the
Holy Land.
