“THE
LORD HAS TRULY RISEN…!”
Luke
24:33
As we come to the conclusion of
our Lenten journey and enter into the sacred mysteries
of our redemption, I am mindful of the faithful prayers
and generous support of the friends of Bethlehem
University throughout the world.
“Truly I assure you,
whatever you ask the Father in my name, He
will grant you in My Name … I have told you
all this so that you will have peace of heart
and mind. Here on earth you will have trouble.
But, take heart, for I have overcome the world” ( John
16: 23, 33 ).
While we continue to live in uncertain
and troubled times with terrible injustice daily
surrounding us, we live in hope and faith in the
Risen Jesus. This Easter is a time of renewed commitment
for us as a university community. Thirty years ago,
it was together that the Vatican and the De La Salle
Christian Brothers founded Bethlehem University,
the only Catholic university in the Holy Land. Today,
it is together with an ever faithful international
community of friends and benefactors, that the Vatican,
the Brothers and our Lasallian colleagues continue
to conduct this University as a vibrant community
of learners faithful to its mission of teaching,
research and service to the Palestinian people.
On behalf of our university community,
I thank you for your faithfulness in supporting our
vital educational mission. You have been a tremendous
sign of hope to us. May you know the joy and peace
of the Risen Lord this Easter. “The Lord
has truly risen! Alleluia!” ( Luke
24:33 ).
