Cultural Fortnight began on 13 April at Bethlehem
University. The event was organized by the Consulate
General of Spain and the Spanish Cooperation Office
in Jerusalem in cooperation with B.U. The celebration
represents a unique occasion to present some aspects
of Spanish Culture as well as the possibility for
international exchange between the Spanish and Palestinian
communities.
The event featured various activities including a piano music evening by
Professor Daniel del Pino performing works by renowned Spanish composers
such as Albeniz and Granados. A Spanish Cinema Week included four films of
renowned recent Spanish cinema production.
Moreover, the Spanish Chef José Camarena
from the School of Gourmet and Tourism in Valencia
conducted a course for the students of the Department
of Hotel Management at Bethlehem University which
included several “hands-on” workshops. The students
learned how to present exciting and wonderful samples
of Spanish and Valencian culinary varieties. A
diploma award ceremony took place afterwards.
The Spanish Chef, with the active
participation of Bethlehem students, cooked outdoors
on campus one of the most famous Spanish culinary
dishes, "PAELLA" for some 120 people.
