September 1, 2004. During the 2004 summer two Bethlehem University students attended training in Montpellier, France. Khaled Haj-Mir, 3 rd year Hotel Management, and Rana Al-Hosein, 2 nd year Hotel Management, traveled to ABM Cours Gallien College to study the French language and culinary arts for one month.
Language courses focusing on language and pronunciation were offered in the College. Other students came from Spain, Taiwan, Japan, Britain, New Zealand, and Australia, and they studied history, geography, and the French political system. Training in food was offered as a practicum with a private catering company where the students worked for five hours every day.
According to Rana the trip helped her “learn more about world reality.” She described the French people as “very friendly and supportive and they treated her in a very special way.” She added: “ I will always remember Montpellier because it is so civilized and beautiful.”
