New Faculty Members Join Bethlehem University

Hanadi Soudah-Younan is from Jerusalem. A graduate of Bethlehem University in 1986 with a BA in English and a minor in Education, Hanadi received her MA in English Literature in 1988 from Brigham Young University, Utah, USA. She worked as an adjunct instructor of English for seven years in New York before she moved back home with her family.
Ms. Younan worked at Bethlehem University in 1989 during the first Intifada. Ms. Younan returned to Bethlehem University as a part-timer before she accepted a full-time position in the English Department this Fall. Also, she worked as Program Director in the Jerusalem YWCA.
Brother Peter Iorlano, FSC is a member of the De La Salle Christian Brothers. He is an American who hails from New York City. Brother Peter has a BS in Biology and Religious Studies, a Masters in Social Work and a Masters in Human Development. His professional experiences include counseling with delinquent adolescents and their families, teaching and providing student services in a K-12 school, school administration, and work with young adults (university students and graduates) in career counseling and faith formation. Immediately prior to coming to Bethlehem University, Brother Peter was the Auxiliary Provincial of the Long Island-New England Province of the Brothers.
Othman Abu Zneid is from Dura, Hebron. He is an alumnus of Bethlehem University, Arabic ‘2001 with a minor in Journalism. Othman received his M.A. in Arabic Literature, specialized in Modern Languages and Criticism Theories, from Jordan University.
Dr. Mohammad Breigheith is from Beit Oummar, Hebron. He has a Ph.D. and M.A. in Clinical Psychology, and a B.A. in General Psychology, from St. Petersburg University, Russia. Dr. Mohammad enjoys teaching. Also, he has done research on the psychological well-being of children and teenagers, community awareness, counseling, and therapy through play and drawing.
Dr. Abdallah Bisharat is from Jaba’, Ramallah. He has a Ph.D. in Science Education from Ohio State University, USA. He will teach Research Methods in Education, in addition to his work as researcher in Al-Quds University. Dr. Abdallah believes that teachers must accept their students as they are, respect their diversity, know them well, and know their background and interests.
Mr. Michel Awad is from Beit Sahour, near Bethlehem. He graduated from Bethlehem University in 1999, where he studied Travel Agency Management. Michel had attended training in Athens, Greece, with the Palestinian Ministry of Tourism, in Tour Operator Management. In March 2003 he took the IATA Exam and passed
with distinction, and in March 2004 he succeeded with distinction in the IATA Exam in Management.
Mr. Zaidoun Darwish is from Beit Jala, near Bethlehem. He graduated from Bethlehem University in 2002 with a degree in Business Administration. He received his Masters in International Marketing from London’s South-Bank University.
Mr. Ghassan Shahin is from Bethlehem. He is a graduate of Bethlehem University in 1988 with a B.Sc. in Physics and a minor in Chemistry. He then received a scholarship from DAAD, Germany, to pursue his M.Sc. in Physics in the University of Jordan. He returned to Bethlehem University in 2001 and worked as researcher with Professor Henry Jacquaman. Now Dr. Ghassan will teach Physics, laboratory courses, and will supervise senior seminars.
Dr. Ghassan enjoys work on computer programming, exploring the up-to-date technologies in science e-learning, and research.
Mr. Nader Hazboun is from Bethlehem. He graduated from Fréres School, Bethlehem. Nader has a B.Sc. in Biology from Bethlehem University where he graduated with honors. Currently he is pursuing his M.A. in Clinical Laboratory, and is working on his thesis, “Tumor Marker for Prostate Carcinoma.”
Nader is specializing in medical technology because he likes to help other people. In addition to teaching in Bethlehem University he likes to play the piano, and to read scientific journals. He is hoping to pursue his Ph.D. some day and to establish a medical laboratory that will serve the community. Nader’s father, Tony, has been working in the Bethlehem University Print-shop for 28 years.
Ms. Salwa Qumri is from Jerusalem. She has an M.Sc. in Mathematics and a certificate in Computer Science from Notingham University, U.K. She also has a Diploma in Education from Beirut University College, Lebanon.
Salwa has worked as a Mathematics Teacher with UNRWA and with UNESCO’s Educational Science Faculty in Ramallah, where she also served as the Department Head for 8 years. Salwa likes to reading, teaching, working on research, and travelling. She also enjoys surfing the internet.
Ghassan Sa’adeh
Ghassan received his Diploma in ticketing from IATA-UFTA, Geneva in 1987. In 1983 he completed his studies in Ticketing. Ghassan joined Amadeus Palestine as a Sales Manager and Instructor in 2002, after he completed a study course in France.
Anton Abu Jaber
Anton is an authorized lawyer in the Latin Ecclesiastical Court in Jerusalem. He had received his Law Degree from Beirut University, Lebanon.
Anton and his wife, Laurette, are both teaching in Bethlehem University’s Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism. Also, Anton is serving as legal advisor to the Frères School, Bethlehem.
Erika Cerrolaza
Erika is a teacher of Spanish Language. She is from Madrid, Spain and has her M.A. in Philology and is preparing for another M.A. in Applied Linguistics. While in Bethlehem University, Erika would like to continue working on a research project in literature theories, which she started while she was teaching in France. Erika has taught in Spain, France, and Saudi Arabia. Erika likes traveling and reading.
