Bethlehem University Hosting Pilgrim Groups

On Friday, 5 March, Bethlehem University hosted Monsignor Giovanni De Andrea, of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher, Italy, with 55 pilgrims. The guests had lunch with Father Jamal Khader, Chairman of the Department of Religious Studies, and Mr. Andreas Merli, Project Coordinator for the M.A. Program in International Cooperation and Development.

The guests proceeded to Furno Hall where they were greeted by Brother Vincent Malham, President-Vice Chancellor. Brother Vincent spoke to the pilgrims about the challenges and accomplishments of Bethlehem University in the Holy Land.

Discussion followed with Father Jamal, Mr. Merli, and students: Samar Al-Tareh and Ameer Baboun, and the guests attended a Multimedia Presentation in Italian about Bethlehem University.

The Italian pilgrims toured the campus with Brother Jack Curran, Vice President for Development, and visited the Chapel, the Palestinian Heritage Center: Turathuna, and the view of Bethlehem area from the University’s amphitheater. Click here for the complete guest list of Italian pilgrims.

That same day, Bethlehem University hosted Father Paul Maddison and 28 pilgrims from East Anglia, UK. The guests met Prof. Bernard Sabella of the Social Sciences Department and students: Rana Al-Hosein, Walid Hadweh, Khalil Fawadleh, and Yara Obayat. Prof. Sabella spoke about the vision for peace in the Holy Land and the challenges that hinder it. The students spoke about their daily life experience under Occupation and their hopes for the future. Brother Daniel Casey, Vice Chancellor-designate, attended these discussions.

The British guests had lunch with the students in the Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism, and toured the campus, saw the view of the greater Bethlehem and Jerusalem area from the amphitheater of the University, and visited the Chapel and the Palestinian Heritage Center: Turathuna.
