Brother Vincent Malham, FSC Named President at
Christian Brothers University, Memphis, TN

Brother Vincent Malham, FSC, currently the President-Vice Chancellor and chief executive officer of Bethlehem University in the Palestinian Authority, has been named the 21st president of Christian Brothers University, Memphis, Tennessee. Brother Vincent will assume his duties at CBU on 1 December 2005, after completing his term as president-vice chancellor at Bethlehem University on 30 June 2005 and embarking on a sabbatical until 1 December 2005.

As previously announced, Brother Daniel Casey, FSC, has been named to succeed Brother Vincent as the next Vice Chancellor at Bethlehem University, effective 1 July 2005. Brother Daniel is currently at Bethlehem University preparing to begin his new responsibilities while he also tutors students in Intensive English.

Bethlehem University of the Holy Land is a Catholic Christian co-educational institution of higher learning founded in 1973 in the Lasallian tradition and is open to students of all faith traditions. Bethlehem University, the first university established in the West Bank, currently enrolls more than 2,240 students in its degree and diploma programs in the Arts, Business Administration, Education, Nursing, Science and Hotel Management and Tourism. An additional 1,200 students annually participate in the University’s continuing education programs through the Institute for Community Partnership.

Christian Brothers University was founded in 1871 by the Christian Brothers. CBU is ranked by U.S. News &World Report among the top 35 Southern Universities Granting Master's Degrees and is ranked 5th for its campus diversity among Southern universities. The first private institution in Memphis to integrate, CBU is also known for providing students of all backgrounds and faiths a well-rounded education built on individualized attention, hands-on learning, and encouragement of personal ethical development.

Along with Bethlehem University, CBU is part of the Lasallian Community active in 81 countries of the world and in more than 1,000 educational institutions. This international association of Lasallian educational institutions is conducted by about 6,000 De La Salle Christian Brothers and nearly 80,000 dedicated religious sisters, priests, and lay women and men of all faith traditions. More than 65 Lasallian institutions of tertiary education are found in Latin America, Europe, Asia, Africa, the United States of America and at Bethlehem University in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. In the United States, CBU is one of seven Lasallian colleges and universities.
