In his opening remarks, Prof. Manuel Hassassian, Executive Vice President, welcomed the participants and thanked them for attending. He expressed hope that the Career Day will serve as an opportunity to help alleviate the harsh economic conditions and daily difficulties of life under Military Occupation. He said that open communication channels are essential between Bethlehem University and local society.

Throughout the semester, graduating seniors were busy attending seminars and workshops leading up to the Career Day. They had attended workshops on C.V. writing and interviewing. The Preparatory Committee, in cooperation with Faculty Members, worked closely with the graduating seniors, making sure they were well-informed and prepared for meetings with prospective employers.

Fouad Abdeen (English ’78) , attended Career Day in his capacity as Administrative Director of the Jerusalem Electricity Company. He met graduating seniors and discussed with them employment possibilities in the Electricity Company. Abdeen said: “I am successful in life because I graduated from Bethlehem University, and I see that some of the best employees that come to us are graduates of Bethlehem University.”

Mary Sabella, Student Counselor and Head of the Preparatory Committee for Career day, described the event as “very successful because our students met business representatives and became familiar with job openings.” She added: “many of our students find jobs through the annual Career Day, because the local market is pleased with the caliber of our students.”
