Pope Benedict XVI Elected 265th Pope

On behalf of the Bethlehem University of the Holy Land community, I express our heartfelt gratitude to God and congratulations to our newly elected Pope Benedict XVI. Our new Holy Father, “a simple, humble worker in the Lord’s vineyard,” is a learned man of God, a seasoned theologian of great wisdom whose life has been and continues to be given in service of God and his people. We remember well his inspirational message at the funeral of his predecessor, Pope John Paul II, and how his words touched our hearts when he said “We can be sure that our beloved Pope is standing today at the window of the Father's house, that he sees us and blesses us. Yes, bless us.”

We at Bethlehem University join with people of good will around the world and pray that God will bless abundantly His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI with strength, wisdom and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
