President of Paris VIII University Visits B.U.

On Wednesday, 4 May, Bethlehem University hosted Professor Pierre Lunel, President of Paris VIII University and a delegation of academic experts. The visit came at the request of the Consulate General of France in Jerusalem, with the aim of informing the visitors about the educational programs offered in Bethlehem University.

The guests were greeted by Brother Fergus McArdle, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Irene Hazou, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs. In Furno Hall, the guests saw a multimedia presentation in French about the mission of Bethlehem University in the Holy Land.

Brother Vincent, President-Vice Chancellor, in his meeting with Professor Pierre Lunel, briefed the guest about Bethlehem University, its challenges and accomplishments and discussed possible areas of cooperation between the institutions.  At the same time, Bethlehem University academicians were holding meetings with the Paris VIII delegation:

1. Dr. Walid Mustafa, Dean of the BU Faculty of Arts, and Dr. Moin Halloun, Chairman of the Department of Arabic, met Professor Riveline, Professor of Hebrew Studies.

2. Dr. Muna Matar, Instructor in Computer Information Systems, and Philip Daoud, Webmaster, met Professor Daniel Lepage for discussion on computers and technology.

3. Brother Neil Kieffe, Director of Instructional Technology, Dr. Qustandi Shomali, Department of Arabic, and Dr. Hanna Musleh, Instructor in the Department of Humanities and film-maker, met Professor Imad Saleh, multimedia expert; and Professor Guy Fihman and Professor Claudine Eizykman, cinema experts.

The guests had lunch in the Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism with Brother Vincent and Brother Fergus.

The Paris VIII delegation held a conclusion meeting with Brother Fergus McArdle and Dr. Irene Hazou, and decided to explore together future possibilities for cooperation.
