GALA FUNDRAISING DINNER SPONSORED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
HONORING BROTHER VINCENT MALHAM

The Board of Trustees Gala Dinner was held on the campus of the University on a balmy Saturday evening, 11 June 2005. The festive activities began with a reception in the University garden in front of de La Salle Hall, followed by a recital in the Chapel of the Divine Child that featured the renowned pianist and the evening’s honoree, Brother Vincent Malham, President-Vice Chancellor.

Following the recital, the 150 guests found their way to their allotted tables. Mr. Mousa Darwish and Mrs. Margaret Mourad, our gifted emcees, opened the affair by introducing the chief music maker, Mr. Garo Demerigian and the Shibat Group who entertained all with their music of the ‘70s and ‘80s.

A blessing, a toast and a few words of gratitude to Brother Vincent for his years of leadership of the University occurred while our capable students of the Institute of Hotel Management served the first course of fish and salad. During the meal, the musicians kept everyone entertained as they fortified their bodies with the pasta and the entrée of lamb with all the appropriate accompaniments, while student hosts under the guidance of Ms. Rania Hazboun visited the various tables to welcome their participation in the evening’s gift raffle. A nicely designed dessert plate of cake and fruit concluded the feast, but not the affair, as the band kept playing and the guests kept lively conversations going. As all good things have to end … so did this evening’s Gala Dinner as people began to withdraw quietly and wend their way to home sweet home.

Many thanks to the guests, Mr. Nabil Mufdi, Chef Andoni Hadweh and the staff of the Institute of Hotel Management, Mr. Fuad Kattan, and the members of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Gara Demerigian and the Shibat Group and the many donors and sponsors of the evening’s dinner and raffle prizes for such a successful and enjoyable evening of delightful companionship, festive entertainment and delicious nourishment.
