Brother Daniel Casey to Inaugurate the New Academic Year
More than 1,400 Applicants for 2005-2006

 

Brother Daniel Casey, Vice Chancellor of Bethlehem University of the Holy Land , will address the faculty and staff on Wednesday, 24 August to inaugurate the new academic year.

More than 1,400 young Palestinian women and men sat for Bethlehem University 's entrance examinations during the first three days of August (1, 2, 3) seeking admission as first year students - the class of 2009.

Bethlehem University , open to people of all faith traditions, is the first university established in the West Bank, founded in 1973, and the only Catholic Christian university in the Holy Land . Female students comprise more than two thirds of the University's student population of some 2,200 students. On Friday, 3 June 2005 , the University conducted its 29 th graduation ceremony with the conferral of 417 degrees on the successful graduates of the class of 2005 with the Honorable Yahia Yakhluf, Minister of Culture as the guest speaker.

The students who applied for admission as first year students for the 2005-2006 academic year on 1, 2, and 3 August 2005 come from Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Hebron, Ramallah, Tulkarm, Jenin and Gaza. Those who successfully complete their entrance examinations and are admitted to Bethlehem University 's academic programs in the Arts, Business Administration, Education, Hotel Management and Tourism, Nursing, and Science will constitute the Class of 2009. The names of successful applicants will be announced in the local newspapers on 13-14 August.

After a week of course registration for all students from 15-19 August, there will be three days of Orientation for the newly admitted students from 22-24 August. Classes for the Fall Semester begin on Thursday, 25 August.
