Hurricane Katrina Information and Solidarity
4 September 2005
Dear Bethlehem University Alumni, Friends, Students, Faculty, and Staff,
On behalf of the Bethlehem University community, I write to express our solidarity with all who are affected by the tragedy of hurricane Katrina and its aftermath. Bethlehem University has many friends, benefactors, and fellow Christian Brothers, Lasallian students, and faculty colleagues in the New Orleans and Mississippi area who are suffering because of this catastrophic event. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
We are grateful for the strong network of friends and Lasallian colleagues throughout the United States and the rest of the world who are reaching out and offering all sorts of assistance to help those who are suffering. At the University web site (http://www.bethlehem.edu/) there are updates and additional information on ways each of us may help.
Even though we at Bethlehem University of the Holy Land are physically at a great distance from our friends in the Louisiana and Mississippi area, please know of our deep concern for you. You are in our thoughts and prayers continually.
We pray for a speedy recovery for all. We pray for the people who have lost their lives and their homes, and for the rescue workers and all involved in providing assistance to the victims of this disaster.
We pray for strength and encouragement to all as together and by association we work to bring relief and support to each other. Let all people of good will and people of all faiths join together in prayer and in efforts to support and comfort the injured and the grieving.
If you know of any Bethlehem University friends, benefactors or graduates who have been affected by Katrina, please let us know at info@bethlehem.edu so that we can add them to our prayer list and offer whatever assistance we can.
Bethlehem University is dedicated to serving the common good and so our University community will continue to be mindful of all those in need, work together to help in whatever way we are able, and keep all in our prayers.
Sincerely,
Brother Daniel Casey, FSC
Vice Chancellor
