Bethlehem University, 26 May 2006
Brother Daniel Casey, FSC, Vice Chancellor, announced today that on Monday, 29 May 2006, the Most Reverend Patrick Kelly Archbishop of Liverpool, UK, will visit Bethlehem University. In speaking of the visit, Brother Daniel Said “Archbishop Kelly is a long time friend and supporter of our University, and we are delighted to welcome him one more time.”
Archbishop Kelly was born in Morecambe, Lancashire 23 November 1938, ordained at the English College, Rome on 18 February 1962, ordained Bishop of Salford on 3 April 1984 and installed as Archbishop and Metropolitan on 3 July 1996. The purpose of the visit is to meet with and support the Churches in the Holy Land as they seek to be faithful to two tasks: “first, never to be silent in the face of injustice and violence, and second to do this in such a way that they are always faithful to the reconciliation accomplished by Jesus of Nazareth on that hill in Jerusalem called Calvary."
At 10:00 am on Monday 29 May, Archbishop Kelly will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving in the University Chapel to which all faculty, staff and students are invited followed by a Dialogue with faculty, staff and students of Bethlehem University.
