Graduation 2006, thirtieth and largest graduating class
Bethlehem University, 16 June 2006
Today June 16, 2006 , is yet another big day for the Students, Faculty and Administration of Bethlehem University. While five hundred and sixty seven students will graduate at 5:00 p.m. with great expectations for a better future, the people of this land are suffering from the ongoing violence and disrespect of human life.
Even with grief from the violence in the Palestinian territories and the Separation Wall which is making Bethlehem more and more isolated, our students at Bethlehem University insist on being positive and focused. At the only Catholic University in the Holy Land , together with your support, our students are working to build successful futures for themselves.
“We are heartened by the recent call from Pope Benedict XVI for a just and lasting peace in the Holy Land and the Holy Father’s urging of the leaders of both peoples to respect human life and resume the path of negotiation with courage. The Holy Father’s closeness to us, especially in prayer, is most supportive” said Br. Daniel Casey, Vice Chancellor of Bethlehem University.
The Bethlehem University , Faculty, staff and Administration strive to provide our students with the appropriate knowledge, the ultimate integrity and the best comprehensive education to be able to dismantle walls and build bridges which bring people together.
With today’s graduation, there are now 9,843 alumni of Bethlehem University contributing as positive, peaceful and ethical members of society despite the injustices of the occupation prevalent in the Holy Land
