Bethlehem University Host Math Olympiad 2006

On Thursday 29 June 2006 , Bethlehem University hosted the Palestinian Mathematics Olympiad 2006. This contest is organized by the National Committee for the Olympiad, the Ministry of Higher Education and the Palestinian Mathematics Society. School students with the highest 15% grades in their schools participated in the Olympiad. Dr. Maher Qumsieh, math professor at Bethlehem University , is a member of the Olympiad Committee who helped organized the Olympiad in Palestine and Mr. Mahmoud Breighith, faculty member in the Department of Mathematics at Bethlehem University , is the coordinator for the district of Bethlehem. The goal of the contest is to nurture the interest of Palestinian students in mathematics which in turn increase their capacity of logical thinking.
