Nine New Faculty Members Begin this Fall at Bethlehem University

On Friday, August 25, Bethlehem University officially inaugurated the 33rd academic year during its annual opening convocation ceremony. Convocation began at 11:00 a.m. in Furno Hall, Brother Daniel Casey, Vice Chancellor, welcomed all members of the Bethlehem University Community. Later Brother Neil Kieffe, Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs, introduced the new faculty members who joined Bethlehem University starting the Fall semester 2006.

Father Vincent Nagle-- Born in San Francisco, California, USA. and raised in a small village in the Redwood forests of Northern California, after finishing his degree in Sociology and Classical Studies at the University of San Francisco, Vincent went to work for the Moroccan Ministry of Education in Morocco as an English teacher. Vincent then worked for a year in Saudi Arabia before earning a master’s degree in Theology at Berkley, California. Following this masters degree, Vincent entered the seminary in Rome, Italy and was ordained a priest in 1992. He then completed a degree in Islamic Studies in 1994. After a brief period of work as a college professor in Nairobi, Kenya, Father Vincent spent the next decade in the United States working as a hospital chaplain in New England. Father Vincent Nable joins the Bethlehem University community as a Lecturer in the English Department in the Faculty of Arts.

 

Sami Basha, PhD.--Born in the town of Jenin, Palestine, Sami completed his bachelor degree in Rome, Italy. He completed his masters and doctoral degrees in the Sciences of Education and Youth Care at the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome, Italy. Dr. Basha’s dissertation topic was “Contributions and Investments of the Christian Palestinian Community in Educational Work.” He is a member of the professional Board for Clinical Pedagogy and Educators in Italy. Dr. Basha is also a member of the High Commission for the Intercultural and Welfare of the Italian Ministry of Justice. Dr. Basha has worked on several research projects on social transformation and joins the Bethlehem University community as Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Education.

 

 

Suhail Odeh, PhD. -- Earning his bachelors and masters degrees in Computer Engineering at Al-Quds University, Palestine in 1996 and 2001, respectively, Suhail completed his PhD at Granada, Spain in 2006. This Fall 2006 semester, Dr. Odeh is teaching an Artificial Intelligence course to fourth year Computer and Information Systems majors, an area which was a particular focus throughout his studies. Dr. Odeh will also be teaching Computer Programming courses as he joins the Bethlehem University community as a lecturer in the Computer and Information Systems Program in the Faculty of Science.

 

 

Motaz Daadoo, PhD-- After attending Al Khader Secondary School in Palestine where he completed the Tawjihi (school leaving exam) in 1996, Motaz earned his bachelors and masters degree from the Dnipropetrovs’k State University, Ukraine in 2001and 2002. Motaz continued on to complete his PhD from Vinnytsia, National Technical University, Ukraine in 2006 with a focus on the study of Self Routing Networks with Optical Processing and Computer Systems and Networks. Dr. Daadoo also worked at the Dnipropetrovs’k Center and Vinnytsia Center in Ukraine. Dr. Dadoo is joining Bethlehem University as a part-time faculty member this fall teaching Computer Organization and Operations and Computer Security courses in the Computer and Information Systems Program in the Faculty of Science.

 

Ahmad Al Janazrah, PhD(BU ’95) —Having attended the Halhoul Secondary School in Palestine, Ahmad graduated from Bethlehem University in 1995 with a major in Chemistry. Ahmad completed his masters degree in Methods of Science Teaching from Al-Qds University, Palestine, and earned his doctoral degree from Frankfurt University in 2005 with a specialization in Chemical Education. Dr. Al Janazrah joins the Bethlehem University community as assistant professor in the Chemistry Department in the Faculty of Science.

 

 

Omar Qourah, M.Sc.--In 1996 Omar earned his bachelors degree in Interdepartmental Science from the American University, Washington D.C., USA. He also earned a M.Sc. degree in Information Systems from the American University, Washington D.C., USA in 2000. Mr. Omar will teach Management Information Systems to students majoring in Computer and Information Systems in the Faculty of Science.

 

 

 

Nubogh Qumsiyeh, M.Sc.-- An alumna of Bethlehem University, Nubogh earned her B.Sc. in Mathematics and Information Technology. Nubogh then completed her masters at the University of Jordan with a specialization in Mathematics. Nubogh joins the Bethlehem University community as a lecturer in the Computer and Information Systems Program in the Faculty of Science.

 

 

 

Rami Sabella, M.A.-- (BU ’04)—Having graduated from Terra Santa High School, Palestine in 2000, Rami completed his bachelors degree at Bethlehem University with a major in Accounting and a minor in Computer Science. Rami then continued his study at the University of Parvia in Italy, where he earned the Master in International Cooperation and Development (MICAD) in 2006. Rami is currently completing his second post-graduate degree, the Master in International Cooperation and Economic Integration as he also teaches Microeconomics and Basic Economics for non-business students during the Fall 2006 semester. Rami joins the Bethlehem University community as a Instructor in the Faculty of Business.

 

 

Luisa Lopez, B.A. – A native of Spain, Luisa completed her studies at the University of Sevilla in Spain with a bachelors in Arabic Philosophy. In addition to her native Spanish, Luisa speaks Arabic and will teach Spanish language courses to the students in the Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism as well as to students in the Faculty of Arts. Luisa joins the Bethlehem University community as an Instructor through a funding grant provided by the government of Spain through the Spanish Representative Office to the Palestinian Authority.
