Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres 25 th Anniversary at Bethlehem University

On the occasion of the Sisters of St. Paul’s 25 th year of service to the Palestinians at Bethlehem University, an Eucharistic Celebration was held at Bethlehem University on Saturday 2 September 2006.

The Celebrations started with a Mass in the Chapel of the Child Jesus presided by the Papal Nuncio His Excellency Archbishop Antonio Franco, Apostolic Delegate to Jerusalem and Palestine and Chancellor of Bethlehem University. The mass was attended by the Brothers, faculty, staff and friends of Bethlehem University. In his Homily, speaking of the contribution of the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres to the noble mission of Bethlehem University, His Excellency Archbishop Franco said “Your presence in the Holy Land and your service to the Palestinian people is a gift of God.”

In the words of Sister Ruby Abellana, representing the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres “ We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to all those present here. We thank in a special way His Excellency Archbishop Antonio Franco for generously giving us his precious time; The Christian Brothers of De La Salle for their kind support all these years."

Brother Daniel Casey, Vice Chancellor, asked Brother Joseph Loewenstein, first Vice Chancellor of Bethlehem University who first welcomed the Sisters of St. Paul to the University in the year 1981, to present the Medal of Bethlehem University to Sister Mary Magdalen, SPC, Local Superior.

In conclusion, all were invited to a sumptuous buffet prepared by the Institute of Hotel Management at Bethlehem University.
