Mr. Sami El Yousef named to Christian Brothers International assembly

Mr. Sami El Yousef, Vice President for Finances and Planning, has been named a delegate to the International Assembly 2006 on the Lasallian Educational Mission. The appointment was made by Brother Alvaro Rodriguez Echeverria, Superior General of the Institute of Brothers of the Christian Schools .

The assembly was held on Oct. 23 to Nov. 5, 2006 at the Rome Generalate, the international headquarters of the De La Salle Christian Brothers. The Christian Brothers are a Roman Catholic teaching order that — along with 75,000 lay colleagues — serves over 900,000 students in educational institutions in 80 countries.

Mr. Sami El Yousef is one of only 10 at-large representatives who were named to the International Assembly.  Districts around the world selected approximately 140 regional members to the assembly.  The assembly gave laypeople "associated for mission" an opportunity to discuss the status and future direction of Lasallian educational enterprises. The recommendations from the assembly will be used in May, 2007, when the De La Salle Christian Brothers will convene in their 44th General Chapter to set their agenda for the next seven years.
