Bethlehem University Continues to Welcome its Friends
On Friday 16th February, Fr. Paul Madison, Parish Priest of St. Ives – UK, visited Bethlehem University accompanied by 17 members of his parish to meet with students and faculty and learn about the current situation and the difficulties people face everyday to get their education under occupation.
The guests were welcomed by the staff and some of the University students who enjoyed sharing their daily lived experiences and expressed contentment in being part of the University’s community.
Similarly, Rev. David Good, of the First Congregational Church, lead the Tree of Life Journey to Bethlehem University’s campus on Monday the 19th February with 15 people. The purpose of the journey was to hear the stories and life the fears and aspirations of the people of the Holy Land.
Our guests were emotionally moved after hearing the story of Al-Mu’taz, a first year student, whose house was demolished twice by the Israeli forces, for simple reason that the house is located “in the way of the wall”.
After an hour of engaging discussion, the group, the students and staff gathered around the martyrs memorial in the heart of campus and paid respect to all those who have sacrificed their lives to bring about a better reality.
