Bethlehem University Acknowledges the Hirmas Brothers
In a humble ceremony Bethlehem University acknowledged the three Hirmas brothers who were the original builders and owners of Bethlehem Hall.
In 1910, Mitri, Saleh and Jeries who had emigrated to Chile, erected the building hoping that one day they will return and live in it. Sadly, they never did. Like many Palestinians, the Hirmas brothers spent their lives scattered all over the world.
Since then, the building has been used for various purposes; a private residence, a reform school for boys and a school for the blind. Only in 1995, Bethlehem University managed to purchase the building and refurbish it to serve the needs of the faculties of Education and Nursing.
It is worth mentioning that the unique architecture and design of the Bethlehem Hall have qualified it to be enlisted as one of the historical buildings of Bethlehem.
