BU Collaborates with Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce
in Receiving EU Representatives
On Monday April 23, Bethlehem University welcomed a meeting of European representatives to the PNA invited by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The aim of the meeting was to introduce the representatives to the current economic situation the Bethlehem District is facing.
The guests started their visit with a tour of the district which included the Industrial Zone, Cremisan Winery, the Separation Wall and the Permanent Exhibition for local products at the Chamber of Commerce in Bethlehem.
Dr. Khuloud Diebes, Palestinian Tourism Minister, who opened the meeting with a presentation on the economy of Bethlehem and Palestine from a tourism perspective, stressed on the negative impacts the separation wall has created, leaving many unemployed. Dr. Diebes, called on the European countries to consider a more consistent strategy when supporting the Palestinian people in an effort to sustain development.
In his response, Mr. Jörg Ranau, German Representative to the PNA, ended the meeting with a word on behalf of the guests and pledge to share what he have seen and heard with his colleagues to help move forward more effective programs and peace.
