Sri Lankan Catholic Association of the UK visits Bethlehem University

23 December 2007

During their pilgrimage to the Holy Land , members of the Sri Lankan Catholic Association of the UK visited Bethlehem University on Monday, 17 December 2007 . The group was lead by Mrs. Antoinette and Mr. Vincent Paul Perera and Father Garret Edmunds, longtime friends and supporters of the University. On their visit, the guests learned about the work of the University and received first hand information about the daily life of young Palestinians in a discussion with Bethlehem University students and a tour of the University's campus including the Center for Palestinian Cultural Heritage, “Turathuna”.

Brother Jack Curran, the Bethlehem University Vice President for Development and Dina Awwad, the Public Relations Officer greeted the group and thanked them for their interest.

The visitors were also greeted by two Bethlehem University students: Razan WazWaz and Wala' Quasiah, who are both in their second year studying English Literature.

The young women shared with the visitors their experiences with the Occupation and the Israeli Military by explaining the humiliations they face almost everyday. However, they also told them how their studies at Bethlehem University motivate them not to continue hoping for a better and more peaceful future.
