Career Day 2008
at Bethlehem University

Career Day was first introduced by the Counseling Office to the graduating class of 1995. Since then, it has become an annual university event. This important event is organized by a committee representing different faculties and departments, the Counseling Office and recently the Institute of Community Partnership.

Career Day aims at providing the graduating class of each academic year a good opportunity to meet and interact with potential employers representing the various employment sectors of the local Palestinian market.

Career Day has a three-fold purpose:

First, to provide senior students with proper training in CV writing and job-interviewing techniques to help them better "market" themselves. A special workshop is usually held for this purpose two weeks before Career Day.

Second, to familiarize graduating students with potential local employers. By bringing representatives of local businesses on campus, Career Day organizers hope that students will become familiar with the job opportunities and potential employers that are found in the local market.

Third, to provide local Palestinian businesses an opportunity to advertise themselves to our graduating students (and to our student population in general) as potential employers. Representatives of these businesses get an excellent opportunity to target students for employment based on-the-spot, short, informal "interviews".

Fourth year students are strongly encouraged to sign up for the training workshop and attend Career Day 2008. We would also like to encourage our sophomore and junior students to attend this important event because it provides an idea about what to anticipate as senior students.

Last year, 58 organizations from the public and private sectors, including banks, hospitals, schools, NGOs and others signed up for Career Day 2007. We hope that a much larger number of businesses and institutions will participate in Career Day 2008 .

This year, the names of participating institutions and the job openings of each institution will be listed to allow graduating students to know about the job opportunities that are available to them.

We strongly urge all participating institutions to confirm their participation in Career Day 2008 and to specify the job openings they have and the majors they are seeking for these openings.
