Death of Brother Vincent Malham, FSC

I am saddened to report to you that Brother Vincent Malham, FSC, former President-Vice Chancellor of Bethlehem University (1997-2005) was killed Friday afternoon (2 May 2008) in an automobile accident while on a trip to visit with his sister in Louisiana . 

After completing his term as President-Vice Chancellor at Bethlehem University in June 2005, Brother Vincent began serving as President of Christian Brothers University in Memphis , Tennessee , a post he held until his death at age 73.

“The death of Brother Vincent is a terrible shock to us all.  We have lost a dedicated and gifted educational leader, a truly committed Brother and genuine friend.  We will always remember him with immense love and admiration. Our prayers are with the family of Brother Vincent and the faculty, staff, students, administration, and Brothers at Christian Brothers University in Memphis as we trust that the God whom Brother Vincent served so faithfully has now welcomed Brother Vincent home,” said Brother Robert Smith, Interim Vice Chancellor and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Bethlehem University.

Services in Memphis, Tennessee:

The Brothers and University community in Memphis will gather on Sunday 11 May from 5:00pm – 9:00pm to pay their respects at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Memphis with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m.

The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Monday, 12 May at 10:00 a.m.

Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in the section set aside for the Christian Brothers of Memphis.

Services at Bethlehem University in the Holy Land:

Upon hearing of the tragic death of Brother Vincent, the Brothers, members of the Board of Trustees and faculty, staff and students of Bethlehem University gathered in the Chapel of the Divine Child for the 12:00 noon Mass on Saturday, 3 May to pray for Brother Vincent.

A memorial Mass of Resurrection will be offered at the Chapel of the Divine Child at Bethlehem University on Monday, 19 May 2008 at 3:30pm . All are invited and welcomed.

Condolences will be received after the Mass in Hotel Management.
