Institute for Community Partnership Concludes Media Summer Camp Festival
On Monday, 09 August 2010, the Institute for Community Partnership at Bethlehem University concluded Media Summer Camp Festival titled Listen to my Story to celebrate the success of five media summer camps held from 2008 through 2010.
The Institute for Community Partnership partnered with the Finnish Foundation for Media, Communication and Development (Vikes) and Diak (Diaconia Polytechnic) in Finland to implement the "Building Media Competence in Palestine" project with two concrete actions in mind: Training Palestinians to build media skills and implementing media education programs for educators. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland funded the project.
Bethlehem University was honored to receive Ms. Eila Hannula (Director of Education at Diaconia Polytechnic), Ms. Pia Rantala-Engberg (Finnish Representative to the Palestinian Authority) and her deputy Ms. Marianne Mäkinen, and Mr. Abdallah Shakarneh who represented Minister Lamis Alami (Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Palestinian Authority). Mr. Shakarneh thanked the government and people of Finland for their long standing and generous support of education in Palestine.
The celebration included a best picture contest in addition to theater, short videos and a drama filmed by the students.
