Bethlehem University Holds First Staff Meeting for 2010-2011
Icon Unveiling
Friday, 20 August, 2010 - The first Staff meeting began with the unveiling and blessing of a triptych created by iconographer Sister Marie-Paul Sarran, OSB by Bethlehem University on the second floor of Delasalle Hall. The icons were commissioned as a reminder of the Lasallian heritage of Bethlehem University. Sister Marie-Paul lives and works at the Benedictine Convent at the Mount of Olives.
The first staff meeting of the academic year is a time for Bethlehem University to recognize the efforts of staff and celebrate their hard work. This year Bethlehem University celebrated:
Dr. Naim Iraqi, who was promoted to Professor.
Ms. Francoise Daoud, who was promoted to Instructor 4th level.
Ms. Mary Juha, who received the award for Employee of the Year.
Br. Peter Bray, Vice Chancellor, opened his speech by reminding Bethlehem University staff that the university is part of a larger family of 70 institutions of higher education in the Lasallian tradition worldwide. Br. Peter then went on to wonder what the University will be like in 2018 and proposed being part of the future as an opportunity not to be missed, saying: "We have the power to shape the future even after we are gone." Lastly, Br. Peter Bray asked the University staff to be committed to the continued and neverending question: "Is there a better way?"
