Computer and Information Technology Major
Inaugurated in Bethlehem University

Bethlehem- George Zreineh. The Math Department in Bethlehem University’s Science Faculty inaugurated the Computer and Information Technology major, under the auspices of Jawwal Company.
In attendance were: Hanna Nasser, Bethlehem Mayor; Abdallah Shakarneh, Director of Education; Fouad Rizek, Member of the National Council; Shibli Abu Farha, Member of the Beit Sahour Municipal Council; Hisham Kuhail, Assistant Deputy Minister of Higher Education; Hakam Kanafani, Director General of Jawwal; and Brother Vincent Malham, President of Bethlehem University.
Brother Vincent spoke about the development of the University. He also spoke about the importance of the Computer and Information Technology major in meeting the needs of Palestinian society, and in empowering the youth to build an independent Palestinian state.
Brother David Scarpa, Dean of the Faculty of Science, stated that science education and academic development of the University depend primarily on technological advancement. Therefore, the Faculty of Science is always planning and developing its programs. The new Computer and Information Technology major is an example on such development.
Hisham Kuhail spoke about the role of the Ministry of Higher Education. He stated that the strategy of the Ministry in academic planning is to serve the people. He spoke about the new Computer and Information Technology major, and he expressed appreciation for the ongoing cooperation with Bethlehem University.
Hakam Kanafani emphasized the importance of technological partnership between the companies and the universities, and he spoke about the abilities of Jawwal and the role it is playing in society. He emphasized the importance of the new Computer and Information Technology major, and wished success and prosperity to the University and students.
Dr. Salim Zoughbi, Program Coordinator, spoke about the new Program and its importance. He stated that the new Program is consistent with the University’s academic plans. Zoughbi said that the Program is also consistent with the universal plans of higher education in computers. He stated that the Program will maintain high academic standards.
