DIPLOMA IN TOURISM MANAGEMENT
The Diploma in Tourism Management, also called
the TOURISM FOR PEACE PROGRAM is a cooperative educational venture
with several other institutions of higher learning around the
Mediterranean Basin. The entire program is under the umbrella
of UNESCO’s University of Tourism and Culture for Peace. The participating
institutions are connected with each other by satellite through
an interactive video-conferencing communications system. These
institutions are: Bethlehem University (Palestine), Ben Gurion
University (Israel), the "Institut International de Formation
au Tourisme" (France), and the "Institut des Hautes
Etudes de Management" (Morocco).
The fundamental principle of this program is
to prepare young people for all aspects of the tourism industry
by offering integrated training courses in the professions of
the tourism industry which will give the students basic knowledge
and skills in three areas: how to develop tourist sites in a spirit
of respect for the physical, cultural, and human environments;
how to innovate in the design; implementation and creation of
new tourism products; and how to best manage sites, host structures,
groups of people, and processes.
Tourism for Peace is a three-year program of
studies and internships. Upon successful completion of the program
students will earn an international diploma recognized by UNESCO
and the World Tourism Organization, and the Bethlehem University
Diploma of Tourism Management.
