Among the highlights of the evening, Omar Faqih, Counselor of the General Delegation of the PLO to the United States, addressed attendees. Also, Reverend Larry Snyder, President and CEO of Catholic Charities USA, received the Bethlehem University Medallion in recognition of his 25 years as a priest, 10 years of leadership at Catholic Charities USA, and his unwavering support of Bethlehem University.

In his remarks, Brother Peter Bray, FSC, Vice Chancellor of Bethlehem University, announced a lead grant that will help fund renovations to the library. The grant is for $1.5 million from American Schools and Hospitals Abroad (ASHA), a division of United States Agency for International Development (USAID), with Christian Brothers Conference as the grantee.

The $2.9 million library renovation project is the first step in a comprehensive facilities master plan that will shape the university over the next 40 years and beyond. The renovation will transform one of the oldest buildings on campus with state-of-the-art “green” features and modern design. It will include a quiet study area, meeting rooms, a rooftop library café, IT pods and Wi-Fi access. So far, Bethlehem has raised about $2 million.
