The session aimed to equip students with practical tools to navigate academic pressures and personal challenges effectively.
Library Director Ms. Elizabeth Dsouza warmly welcomed the students and the guest speaker, Ms. Minerva Jaraysah, a distinguished lecturer from the Department of Social Sciences.
Ms. Jaraysah emphasized that stress as a universal experience, further intensified by the ongoing war in Gaza, adding emotional and psychological strain on students. She explained that stress manifests differently based on individual personality types and coping mechanisms.
During the session, Ms. Jaraysah introduced students to key psychological frameworks, including Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, which explores human motivation and well-being, and the Johari Window, a model that enhances self-awareness and interpersonal relationships. She skillfully engaged students through interactive discussions, ensuring the session was inclusive, thought-provoking, and enjoyable.
Students actively participated, sharing their own experiences and strategies for managing stress. The session highlighted the importance of self-care, mindfulness, time management, and seeking support when needed. Ms. Jaraysah encouraged students to build resilience by recognizing their stress triggers and developing personalized coping strategies.
Ms. Vera Koussa, Head of English Technical Services, expressed gratitude to Ms. Minerva Jaraysah for her engaging and enlightening presentation.
