In the sixth week of the sessions organized by the Academic Innovation Hub, Bethlehem University faculty members had the opportunity to participate in an engaging and interactive workshop led by Dr. Rabiha Elyan/Alayasa, Assistant Professor in the Department of Early Childhood Education. The workshop focused on integrating the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) approach into university courses.
During the session, faculty members explored the interdisciplinary connections within the STEAM framework and discussed the evaluation of critical STEAM outcomes such as research skills, creative thinking, design thinking, and engineering design. These discussions provided valuable insights into how these areas can be effectively incorporated into academic curricula.
In addition, faculty members took part in a dynamic team-building activity that allowed them to experience firsthand the innovative approaches to teaching and learning within STEAM. The activity underscored the importance of collaboration in fostering a rich STEAM learning environment.
These sessions highlight transformative strategies that aim to empower both educators and students, fostering dynamic and impactful learning experiences that align with the evolving demands of the academic and professional worlds.
Additionally, Dr. Rabiha recently published a co-authored paper titled “Proposed Visualization for Integrating STEAM-Related Learning Outcomes into Teacher Qualification Programs at Palestinian Universities: A Qualitative Study.” This research was published in Dirasat: Educational Sciences Journal, Volume 51, Issue 14, 2024.
Bethlehem University remains committed to advancing educational innovation and equipping both faculty and students with the skills necessary to excel.
