Occupational Therapy Students Visit Al-Shurooq School for Blind Children

Second-Year Occupational Therapy Students from Bethlehem University recently conducted a field visit to Al-Shurooq School for Blind Children. The visit, organized under the supervision of Ms. Wisal Chamrukh and in coordination with School Principal Ms. Mirna Fleifel and Occupational Therapist Ms. Dana Ramadan, aimed to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical application through real-world experiences.

This visit is rooted in the University’s Transformative Education Model, emphasizing analytical and understanding-based learning. The goal was to enhance the students’ educational journey by encouraging deeper reflection and community interaction.

During the visit, the school’s occupational therapist led a series of hands-on activities that allowed the students to experience the world through the perspective of someone with visual impairment. The program also included an introductory lecture on the role of occupational therapy in schools, a guided tour of the facilities, and time spent inside classrooms observing specialized instruction methods and adaptive tools.

This visit allowed students to work directly with students, providing them with valuable practical experience in a real-world setting. By adopting an experiential learning approach, students were able to interact more effectively with the educational process.

The visit not only led to a deeper understanding and application of the material but also contributed to developing their critical thinking skills through observation, analysis, and reflection. Their ability to comprehend knowledge more deeply and effectively apply it in their future professional practices was also enhanced.
