On Friday, 30 May 2025, the Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability at Bethlehem University organized a special interactive activity for children to celebrate the World Environment Day, which is observed annually on June 5.
During the session, children learned about the concept of the environment, its living and nonliving components, its importance in our lives, the environmental challenges facing our planet, and ways we can help protect and preserve it.
The activity included a nature scavenger hunt in the institute’s garden, where children explored various environmental elements, learning about their colors, shapes, and types in a hands-on, engaging way.
The day concluded with a creative art session, where children used gouache paints to illustrate their vision of a beautiful environment, expressing their love for nature and their desire to care for it.
This activity is part of a weekly program series organized by the institute, aimed at nurturing curiosity among children, raising their environmental awareness, and building a positive and caring relationship with nature and biodiversity through fun, experiential learning.
