Bethlehem University is honored to announce a generous donation of $5,000 made by Ms. Maha Saca, founder of the Palestinian Heritage Center, and on behalf of her siblings, in loving memory of her mother, the late Elaine Abu Rumman (1931–2024). This heartfelt contribution was designated specifically to support the ongoing activities and enhancement of the University’s Turathuna: George Nasra Center for Palestinian Heritage.
Elaine Abu Rumman, a lifelong advocate for culture and education, cherished the launch of her book The Tapestry of My Life’s Journey, back in November 2024 at the Bethlehem University Library. In line with her wishes, this donation will directly benefit the Turathuna Center, which serves as a vital space for the preservation, study, and celebration of Palestinian heritage. The contribution will support the Center’s programs, resources, and the continued maintenance and development of the library housed within Turathuna.
Ms. Maha Saca’s lifelong dedication to preserving Palestinian culture and heritage is deeply rooted in the values instilled by her late mother, Elaine Abu Rumman. As the founder and director of the Palestinian Heritage Center in Bethlehem, Saca has championed the preservation of traditional crafts, attire, and oral histories, continuing a legacy of cultural pride and educational commitment that her mother embodied throughout her life. Elaine’s appreciation for literature, history, and community engagement inspired Maha’s mission, and the recent donation to Bethlehem University in her mother’s memory stands as a powerful tribute to that enduring influence.
Bethlehem University extends its deepest gratitude to Ms. Maha Saca for her meaningful support and her family’s lasting contributions to Palestinian heritage.
This generous act of philanthropy not only honors a beloved family but also strengthens Bethlehem University’s mission to serve as a beacon of hope and cultural preservation, and academic excellence in Palestine.
