Welcome To Bethlehem University Astronomy Club
Established in November, 2024, BU-Astronomy Club is open to all students who are interested in astronomy and space science. Members are of all ages and all levels of experience.
Beginners are especially welcome!
The Club holds regularly meetings and conducts many stargazing throughout the year. Check our Meeting & Stargazing nights schedule at our Club Calendar link for times and locations.
Meetings cover a wide variety of topics (observational, theoretical, and amateur activities). Meetings may offer presentations by members, guest speakers, or workshops on some aspect of astronomy.

The idea of establishing an Astronomy club was initiated early in 2019 when Mr. Ahmad Atiyha had a close cooperation with the Italians that was followed by a visit to Siena University. The main objective was to promote the Department and the faculty and consequently to attract more students into the Faculty. In the first place, it was agreed to hold a summer training course for BU students by our colleagues from Italy. Unfortunately, because of COVID it was postponed.
Dr. Michel Hanania was involved in the process and it was possible to seek funds through the Advancement Office to buy a state-of-art new telescope in 2022 (MEADE LX90 ACF), that is now located at the Department of Physics, and Ahmad is in charge of it.
In summer 2024, Ahmad and Michel spent a two-week training course on the mounting, dismounting and operating of similar telescope at Siena University-Italy through an Erasmus+ staff exchange grant.
