                             Thompson Faller

Thompson Faller, professor of philosophy at the University of Portland, has been approved by the Vatican Secretary of State for the International Board of Regents of Bethlehem University of the Holy Land in Palestine.

Bethlehem University, founded in 1973, is Catholic-run but open to students of all faith traditions. The first university established in the West Bank, it is conducted by the De La Salle Christian Brothers.

Located on almost nine acres at the highest point in the town of Bethlehem, it has an enrollment of more than 3,000. Graduate and undergraduate programs include arts, sciences, nursing, business administration, education, the Institute for Community Partnership, and the Institute for Hotel Management and Tourism.

Students and faculty face curfews, travel restrictions and military checkpoints. The campus has been closed 12 times by Israeli military order, but classes have been held continually on- and off-campus.

Faller is a Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, a group charged with supporting the church in the Holy Land.
