MA in International Cooperation and Development (MICAD)

Program Overview

MICAD is a graduate program offered by Bethlehem University that aims at preparing excellent leaders and professionals who are committed to sustainable development in Palestine.

Multidisciplinary in its nature, MICAD is taught part-time with intensive lectures mainly on Friday and Saturday, and it covers two academic years. Starting with the fifth cohort, classes and other activities are planned for Thursdays too. Blending theory with practice, the program is built upon five areas of study and research: social studies; economics; international issues; development studies, and project management.

The working language for all academic activities is English, and lecturers are selected among the most qualified faculty in Palestine and also Europe.

Upon completion of the program, a student will be able to:
  • Assess the dynamics of a complex context.
  • Analyze its relations with local and international stakeholders.
  • Elaborate development projects according to the needs of specific target groups.
  • Submit proposals to different donors for financing.
  • Manage planned activities.
  • Monitor their impact on beneficiaries.
  • Analyze the feasibility of further initiatives.
  • Report on the various projects implemented.
  1. .A B.A. Degree in any discipline supported by academic transcripts with a GPA above 2.5 on a scale of 4.00 (equivalent to 75 on a scale of 100);
  2. Relevant experience could be used to supplement applications with GPAs below 2.5.  In no case will a GPA of below 2.0 be accepted.
  3. Fluency in spoken and written English (A language exam will be given to all candidates except for those whose first language is English and those who can prove English language proficiency);
  4. Standard computer literacy.
  5. Fluency in any language other than Arabic is an asset.
  6. Working or volunteering experiences in activities for socio-economic development are appreciated, but not strictly required.  This can also be used to satisfy requirement 2 above.
  1. Filling out the admission form.
  2. A certified copy from the university and the Ministry of Higher Education of the transcript of grades and the Bachelor’s degree certificate.
  3. A certified copy of the Tawjihi (high school diploma) transcript.
  4. Copy of the ID or Passport.
  5. A current CV.
  6. Personal Photo.
  7. 2 Reference Letters: 1 from a faculty member and 1 from the employer.
  8. A short essay describing the applicant’s motivations and expectations towards the program (max. 200 words).
  9. An official copy of other Degrees or Diplomas (if any).
  10. Certificates of Foreign Language proficiency (if any).
  11. Certificates attesting professional experience (if any).

Credit Hour: 620 NIS
