EOHSJ USA Northwestern Lieutenancy Group Visit Bethlehem University

EOHSJArchbishop Schweitz, Archbishop of Anchorage Alaska, and Lady Mary O’Brien, Lieutenant led the EOHSJ USA Northwestern Lieutenancy group in a visit to Bethlehem University, on the 24th of May, 2010.

The Northwestern Lieutenancy is a long time close friend and supporter of the University.  They share with the University its mission and aspiration to serve the Palestinian people. Their continuous support helped to bring to reality many of our projects aimed at enhancing our services to the Palestinian community. Scholarships, computers for the Gaza Student Initiative, and helping in the establishment of  Br. Vincent Malhal Center for Cultural Studies are examples of how the Northwestern Lieutenancy helped the University and its students.  Their latest contribution to the University is the establishment of the John McGuckin Mentorship Program.  Through this program, three of our third year students will be traveling to the United States this summer for a six weeks internship at businesses owned by members of the Lieutenancy.  The students will also be staying at the homes of members of the Lieutenancy.

The group was greeted by Br. Peter Bray, Vice Chancellor of Bethlehem University, Br. Jack Curran, Vice President for Development, in addition to some of the students who benefited from the Northwestern Lieutenancy’s support.
