The official opening of the MICAD program for the academic year 2018-2019 was held on Friday, 7 September 2018, at Bethlehem University.

His Excellency Fabio Sokolowicz, the Consul General of Italy in Jerusalem, and Dr. Cristina Natoli, the representative of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation in Jerusalem, attended the event.

Dr. Fadi Kattan, Dean of the Faculty of the Business Administration and MICAD Director, opened the ceremony with welcoming the 26 new students who joined the program as the 14th cohort.

He thanked the Italians for their support which helped to improve the quality of education for the students.  

Brother Peter Bray, Vice Chancellor, welcomed the Consul General and hoped the Italian cooperation would continue in the future for the benefit of the students.

Part of the richness of the program is the international teachers who come for this program which is part of the university’s mission to make its graduates as global citizens, he said.

Dr. Irene Hazou, Vice President for Academic Affairs, highlighted the contributions of Italy in developing faculty members, trainings, and activities held on campus.

Mr. Sokolowicz said that through the Italian cooperation they work for students and that way they invest in the future of Palestine.

Dr. Natoli explained the role of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation in funding different sectors in Palestine.

An open discussion with the students was held at the end of the ceremony.
