The Institute of Oral Cultural Heritage of the Palestinians / Bethlehem University published a new book titled “An Etymological Lexicon of Foreign Words in Palestinian Arabic”.

The book deals with the etymology of foreign words in the Palestinian dialect. The words were collected in the last two decades from informants in different locations in Palestine and also from spoken Arabic manuscripts, popular songs, poetry, and various documents from Šarīʿa Courts, etc.

The Lexicon gives etymology of each word written by the original script. It also contains an index summarizing all the foreign words mentioned in the book. Moreover, it contains references of these words in the dialect and popular culture. Please see the links for samples and introduction below.
