The Tarek Juffali Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences organized a ceremony to honor the nursing students who won the Farida Abu Dayyah Al-Budeiri Award on Thursday, 7 November 2019.

Dean of the Faculty Ms. Mariam Awad welcomed and thanked Al-Budeiri family and Mr. Adel Al-Budeiri for annually honoring the top nursing student. She also acknowledged the nursing faculty members for their work and support they provide to their students and encouraged the new students to excel in their studies.

Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Irene Hazou also thanked the Al-Budeiri family for their continuous support and welcomed the awardees and their parents. She added that Bethlehem University always makes sure the academic programs offered are of high quality and gives the students the skills needed for their future careers.

Mr. Adel Al-Budeiri attended the ceremony as the family representative. In his speech, he said that his uncle Jamil, may his soul rest in peace, started this award in 1995 to keep the memory of his grandmother alive. It was also a way to show appreciation to Bethlehem University for the great work it does here in Palestine especially the Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences.

Hadeel Salem and Haneen Assi, who graduated this year with 3.85 as their accumulative GPA, won this year’s award. In her inspiring speech, Hadeel said she was honored to receive this award and described her journey at Bethlehem University as being unforgettable. Haneen expressed her sincere thanks to her teachers and Al-Budeiri family and encouraged the students to follow their steps in achieving high grades.

Mr. Adel Al-Budeiri gave the award of $1,000 to Hadeel and Haneen on behalf of the Al-Budeiri family. The award is in honor of the late Farida Abu Dayyeh Al-Budeiri, one of the pioneer female nurses in Palestine, famous in the Palestinian nursing world. She finished her degree in nursing from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. She worked as a nurse in Beit Jala and Jerusalem.
