FOM-120 Module: The First Impression-Registration/Check-in Process

Module Description & Objectives:

This module covers the hotel registration or check-in process. Upon completion of this module, the participants should have the ability to handle the requirements and processes in guest registration given the different reservation set-ups.

Module Learning Outcomes:

Upon satisfactory completion of this module, a participant should have the ability to:

  1. List the steps of the registration process from the viewpoint of a Front Desk Agent.
  2. Explain the nature and use of registration records and registration forms
  3. Differentiate the factors that affect the room and rate assignment.
  4. Identify the different modes of payment accepted at the Front Desk.

Prior Learning/Prerequisites:

Participants must successfully complete FOM-110 the Hotel Reservation Process before proceeding.  Ideally, each participant should have taken previous courses such as Principles of Tourism and Principles of Management.

Program Duration & Capacity:

Two (2) sessions, three (3) hours each.  Maximum 25 participants.

Target Group:

The target group is students interested in front-of-the-house positions of a hotel, specifically in the Front Office Department.
