Stand with Gaza Students

Support our educational mission with students in Gaza bringing dignity and care to the wounded

Tent Office

You may have seen the moving images of Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa’s recent visit to the Holy Family Parish in Gaza. He embraced grieving families following the tragic bombing of the church compound that killed three and injured dozens. His presence was a sign of faith, hope, and solidarity.

At Bethlehem University, we join with the Patriarch and are taking that same spirit of compassion and justice and putting it into action through education.

In the midst of war and destruction, five courageous students from Gaza – graduates of the now-destroyed Al-Aqsa University – have enrolled in our Master’s Program in Oncology and Palliative Care. These students, now working with the sick and wounded in the rubble of Gaza’s hospitals, are committed to bringing dignity, healing, and hope to their people.

“What makes the situation more devastating,” one student wrote, “is the neglect that oncology patients have faced during the war…end-stage cancer patients were left to die with no palliative intervention.”

Bethlehem University proudly stands with these students. Through the dedicated and heroic efforts of Ms. Mariam Awad and our Nursing faculty members, we are providing these students access to our MA in Oncology and Palliative Care.  But we cannot do this alone.

Your support will provide psycho-social support for nurses operating in a war-zone, tuition coverage and academic accompaniment, mentorship, clinical advisors, and trauma-informed faculty support.

This initiative reflects the deepest convictions of our Catholic, Lasallian mission. As Brother Hernán, our Vice Chancellor, recently reminded us:

“Bethlehem University is committed to the truth that every person is created in the image and likeness of God… Education, solidarity, and prophetic witness remain our tools in the struggle for dignity, justice, healing, and peace.”

With your help, this action is possible.

We are not simply offering degrees – together with you, Staff members , we are nurturing prophets of healing, training caregivers, and accompanying brave students who refuse to surrender to fear or despair. Their commitment reminds us all that education can be a form of creating a better future, resisting injustice, a source of hope, and a path toward peace and healing.

Will you help us walk with Ilham, Khalil, Nouran, Mohammed, and Israa who are now working with the sick and wounded in the rubble of Gaza’s hospitals, and are committed to bringing dignity, healing, and hope to their people during this ongoing genocide?

Make your gift now to support the Gaza Student Initiative.

Let us respond – together – with compassion that heals, faith that acts, and education that transforms.
