Biography
Dr. Amal Jadou (BU95) stands as a distinguished alumna in the field of international relations and a prominent figure in Palestinian diplomacy. Her remarkable career is marked by significant achievements, including becoming the first Palestinian woman to hold the esteemed position of Undersecretary of the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.
Amal Jadou's academic journey laid a strong foundation for her diplomatic pursuits. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from Bethlehem University, a Master's Degree from Birzeit University, and a Ph.D. in International Relations and Affairs from the prestigious Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. She also undertook a graduate fellowship at Harvard Law School, focusing on mediation and negotiations.
Her extensive diplomatic career began in 2005 with the Palestinian Authority. She served as a senior advisor and later as deputy ambassador at the Palestinian Mission in Washington D.C. In 2012, she became the Assistant Minister for European Affairs before her historic appointment as Undersecretary in September 2019, a role she held until April 2024.
Since October 2024, Dr. Jadou has served as the Palestinian Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg, and the European Union, a testament to her continued dedication and influence on the international stage. In this capacity, she has presented her credentials to high-ranking European officials, marking significant steps in strengthening ties between Palestine and the EU.
