Bethlehem University mourns the death of His Eminence Achille Cardinal Silvestrini, the Prefect Emeritus of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches.
Cardinal Silvestrini, a longtime friend and supporter of Bethlehem University, passed away peacefully in Rome on Thursday, 29 August 2019, at the age of 95.
He was appointed Prefect of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches in 1991 and retired in 2000.
